When I saw this barrel of mats sitting outside of a store along the beach the colors instantly popped out to me. I have a shot of the barrel from above showing all the colors and they are all in focus. I decided I wanted to get a side shot, so I arranged some of them to be different heights. I was getting sufficient natural light from the sun that my ISO could be very low. I focused on this taller blue mat and since I had a shallow depth of field, I was able to achieve the blurry background of red mats. That is why the aperture can be at 5.6. I think I achieved getting the texture of the mat and all the details. The way the mats roll up also creates interest in the photo.
